Brook trout are native to Minnesota. You'll find them in streams along the North Shore and in the clean, cold headwaters of southeastern Minnesota trout streams.

Southeastern Minnesota has mostly brown trout, native to Germany, and rainbow trout, native to the western United States. Both varieties were introduced to Minnesota in the late 1800s.
