Description

Nestled at the beginning of New York Point, the group center is located in the southwest part of the park along the northern shoreline of Albert Lea Lake. Visitors need to bring their own tent or camper trailer for overnight camping - the group center does not have overnight cabins. Maximum capacity is 50 people. Available seasonally from Memorial Day weekend through September.

  • Dining center: Includes a commercial kitchen and dining hall with folding tables and chairs. Dining hall also has an air conditioning unit.
  • Bathroom/showers: Separate bathroom and shower rooms for men and women.
  • Other features: Eight electric pedestals spread out around the group center for visitors to plug in their camper trailers.

Fees

  • Overnight: $215 per night or $5 per person, whichever is greater. Tax and utilities are extra. 
  • Day use: $130 per day plus tax.

The large kitchen offers:

  • Commercial oven with stove top burners and griddle
  • Commercial refrigerator and freezer
  • Two large commercial stainless steel sinks
  • Dishes, utensils and cookware
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Brooms, dustpans, mops and buckets

Remember to bring

  • Tent or camper trailer
  • Sleeping bags or other bedding
  • Coffee pot, toaster
  • Dish cloths, sponges, etc.
  • Flashlight
  • Matches/lighter
  • Fans

Arrival and departure

Each group is responsible for cleaning the group center before checkout. A cleaning checklist is included in your reservation information packet.

Overnight use

Check-in: 11 a.m. 
Checkout: 10 a.m.

Day use

Check-in: 11 a.m. 
Checkout: 7 p.m.


Other information


  • No sleeping indoors

    By order of the Fire Marshall, no overnight sleeping is allowed in the group center buildings.

  • Firewood

    Firewood bundles are available for sale at the park office. Don't move firewood! Burning non-local firewood can spread invasive species, and it's against Minnesota state law. Buy your firewood from the park or use approved firewood. If you bring in your own firewood, it will be inspected by park staff when you arrive.

  • Pets

    Only hearing or seeing-eye dogs or other service animals are allowed in state park buildings, lodging, tours or in beach areas. Pets are not allowed in state park buildings. They must be kept on a leash six feet or shorter and personally attended at all times.

  • Vehicle permits

    Vehicle permits are required for all vehicles entering a Minnesota state park or recreation area.
