OHM Operators under 16 years old are required to have the OHM Certificate to operate on public lands and frozen waters in Minnesota.

  • If you are under age 11, you may complete the OHM CD and receive your Certificate. To receive the OHM CD, please contact the DNR Information Center toll free at 1-888-646-6367 or from the Twin Cities at 651-296-6157 to request an OHM CD to be mailed to you. Mail the completed Certificate showing successful completion of the exam with a $5.00 and an OHM Certificate will be mailed to the student.
  • The OHM course for students age 11 – 15 is combined with the ATV online course. Complete the OHM/ATV Course online at: The cost of the ATV/OHM online course is $29.50 or (the fee for the online course $29.95 *Family/group pricing available)

General Information

This safety course emphasizes responsibility, pre-season maintenance, nomenclature, proper clothing, laws, general operation, safe operation, protection of the environment, and problems that may occur while riding.
