Description:

These one-, two-, or three-bedroom log and stick built cabins are all set in the towering pines along the east arm of Lake Itasca by Douglas Lodge.

Available:

Seasonal - Friday of Memorial Day weekend through first Sunday in October.

Historic East Cabin

Description:

This historic log structure built in 1937 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), once served as our information and permit booth has been repurposed into a very popular rental unit located just up the hill from Douglas Lodge.

The East Cabin rents for $240 per night or $1,440 per week, not including tax.

Available:

Seasonal - Friday of Memorial Day weekend through first Sunday in October.

Bear Paw Cabins

Description:

These six historic log cabins are located within Bear Paw Campground and were built in 1936 and 1939 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Simple, studio-style cabins provide a comfortable space to rest after a day in the park. 

Available:

Seasonal. Open from early May to early October.

Cabins rent for $110 per night or $660 per week, not including tax.

Features:

4-person occupancy. Studio-style cabins are furnished with one full bed and a full-size sofa bed.

All cabins have:

  • A kitchenette equipped with a mini-fridge, microwave, two-burner cooktop, toaster, coffee pot, coffee filters, salt and pepper shakers, assorted pots and pans, basic cooking utensils and tableware sets equal to cabin occupancy.
  • Basic household items, including garbage and recycling bins, broom, dust pan, fly swatter, fire extinguisher and oscillating fan.
  • A half bathroom. Cabin guests may use the campground shower facilities.
  • Dining table and chairs.
  • A wood-burning stone fireplace and heat, but no air conditioning.
  • Two parking spots.
  • A deck, one picnic table and a fire ring with cooking grate.
  • Partial views of Lake Itasca, and a public water access within walking distance.
  • Wireless internet access is available throughout Bear Paw Campground. Signal strength may vary.
  • These cabins are not pet-friendly.

Bear Paw Guesthouse

Description:

This historic log structure located within Bear Paw Campground was built in 1935 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and once served as the Bear Paw Campground Store and manager's residence. In 2013, the cabin was repurposed into a spacious group lodging facility with easy access to Lake Itasca, the Itasca State Park bike trail and hiking.

Availability:

Seasonal. Open from early May to early October.

Cabin rents for $425 per night or $2,550 per week, not including tax.

Features:

  • 10-person occupancy. Cabin has three bedrooms; two rooms have one queen bed each and one room has a full bed. The living areas have two full-size futons.
  • Full kitchen includes refrigerator, microwave, range, dishwasher, toaster, coffee pot, coffee filters, salt and pepper shakers, assorted pots and pans, assorted bakeware, basic cooking utensils and tableware sets equal to cabin occupancy.
  • Basic household items include garbage and recycling bins, vacuum, broom, dust pan, dust mop, fly swatter and a fire extinguisher.
  • Two three-quarter bathrooms, one with an accessible shower.
  • Large, open-concept room with an 8-seat dining table, 5-seat breakfast counter and lounge seating.
  • Separate living room with wood-burning stone fireplace and lounge seating.
  • Heat and air conditioning.
  • Two parking spots with additional parking nearby.
  • Screen porch. Spacious lawn has one picnic table and a fire ring with cooking grate.
  • Partial views of Lake Itasca from the cabin, which is walking distance from a public water access.

Bert's Cabins

Description:

This group of twelve unique cabins is tucked beneath towering pines and situated along scenic Wilderness Drive. Occupancy ranges from 2 to 8 people. Cabins have one, two or three bedrooms furnished with a combination of queen or full-size beds. Most cabins also have full-size sofa beds in their living areas. Some cabins have a fireplace and screened porch; some cabins are also pet-friendly.

Available:

Seasonal. All cabins are open from early May to early October. Cabins 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10 stay open through mid-November.

Features:

All cabins are stick-built with knotty pine interior, except Cabin 12, which is log construction.

Some cabins are pet-friendly. Pets must be personally attended at all times.

All cabins have:

  • A full kitchen equipped with refrigerator, microwave, range, toaster, coffee pot, coffee filters, salt and pepper shakers, assorted pots and pans, assorted bakeware, basic cooking utensils and tableware sets equal to cabin occupancy.

Lake Ozawindib Cabin

Description:

This historic log structure was built in the early 1930s and originally served as a forestry patrol cabin. The cabin now offers guests a private getaway on Lake Ozawindib with breathtaking views and comfortable, rustic accommodations.

Available:

Seasonal. Open from early May to mid-October.

Cabin rents for $200 per night or $1,200 per week, not including tax.

Features:

  • 8-person occupancy. Cabin has two bedrooms, each furnished with one full bed. The living area has two full-size sofa beds.
  • Full kitchen is equipped with refrigerator, microwave, range, toaster, coffee pot, coffee filters, salt and pepper shakers, assorted pots and pans, assorted bakeware, basic cooking utensils and tableware sets equal to cabin occupancy. The kitchen sink has no running water.
  • Basic household items including garbage and recycling bins, vacuum, broom, dust pan, dust mop, fly swatter and a fire extinguisher.
  • No indoor plumbing. There is a primitive toilet and a fresh water pump outside the cabin. You may use the campground shower facilities. Bring your own towels.
  • Living and dining area with wood-burning stone fireplace.
  • Heated, but no air conditioning.
  • Two parking spots.
  • Picnic table and fire ring with cooking grate.
  • Screen porch overlooking Lake Ozawindib.
  • Private dock on Lake Ozawindib. A row boat, canoe, paddles and life jackets are provided.
  • This cabin is not pet-friendly and does not have wireless Internet access.

Reservations policy and FAQ

Make a reservation

Reservations can be made up to 120 days in advance, 24 hours a day, except for the first day a reservation becomes available. On that first day, reservations cannot be made online before 8 a.m.

Check availability

A non-refundable reservation fee ($10.00 for call center/$7.00 for web) is charged for each advance reservation.
