Where to go: The Prairie Overlook Trail is the place to view beautiful prairie grasses and wildflowers. As one of the highest points in the park, the landscape becomes a mosaic of color as the grasses and leaves begin to turn! Come and check it out!
What you'll see: Canada and Stiff-leaved Golden Rods provide a yellow splash of color throughout the landscapes. The prairie grasses, with their golden hues, wave gently in the breeze. Look for Big and Little Prairie Bluestem. Cream and purple Bottled Gentian, and Blazing Star dotting the park. Smooth and Staghorn Sumac provide stunning red berries.

Canít decide between a one-day or year-round park permit? The DNR has a special offer that can help. Start by purchasing a one-day permit for $5 and visit as many state parks as possible. After visiting the state parks, trade in the one-day permit by the end of that day and get $5 off the purchase of a year-round permit. Year-round permits, which cost $25, provide unlimited access to all 76 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas for a full year from the month of purchase.
