Featured Update

CO Ben Karon (Pine City) continued active patrol in area state forests and other public lands for reoccurring violations. Most commonly, people are continuing to shoot dangerously and illegally all while managing to make the area look worse than when they arrived. It is not uncommon for people to shoot the signs that read “no shooting permitted,” or drive their OHVs around signs that read “Road/Trail Closed.” When asked why they disregarded posted signs, the resounding answer boiled down to not believing the rules applied to them. Many enjoyed the warmer weather and were out angling and boating. The crappie bite seems to have slowed for many. This should curb the enthusiastic people catching their limit and coming back the same day to catch double their limit. Calls were answered about miscellaneous wildlife-related issues. Training was given at Camp Ripley for the final rounds of annual training and multiple presentations were given at firearms safety classes.
