As the primary conservation law enforcement agency in the state, the DNR Enforcement Division and its conservation officers play an important role in connecting people to the outdoors and conserving and enhancing Minnesota’s natural resources by providing outreach, safety training and law enforcement. Protecting public safety has been the Division’s highest priority since it was established in 1887, and its role in protecting natural resources has grown from traditional game and fish enforcement to broader natural resource protection responsibilities that affect natural systems, quality of life and economic sustainability now and into the future.
