Floodplain connectivity is critical to channel stability. Both floodplain and channel work in balance to manage the water and sediment delivered to them. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has been conducting studies to assess and quantify benefits of applying site-based land form measurements into the design of infrastructure placed on our waterways.

A set of procedures are available to document site land form metrics to be used in site design. An interactive spreadsheet form will help document basic land form metrics that designers can apply into site design.
