The boat access is located on the Two Harbors downtown waterfront on Agate Bay within the commercial shipping harbor. The original facility built in 1981 it was completely reconstructed and updated in 2011. The facility is operated by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources with daily maintenance provided by the city of Two Harbors. 

Future plans call for a Small Craft Harbor to be developed in cooperation with US Army Corps of Engineers and the city of Two Harbors adjacent to the launch ramp.
