The following maps were put together to show the catch rates of the most sought after fish species in the Sauk Rapids Fisheries Management Area.
Largemouth bass are sampled by boat electrofishing (temporarily stunning fish in shallow water) during the spring of the year (mid-May to mid-June) on selected lakes each year. The catch rates are expressed as the number of fish > than 8" caught per hour (#/hr) of electrofishing "on" time.
Bluegill and crappie are sampled with trap nets while walleye and northern pike are sampled with gill nets. Catch rates are expressed as the number of fish per net. These maps were generated for lakes that have public access and have had a recent survey (since 2000) conducted on them. Anglers should consider that high catch rates may indicate a smaller size structure.
