Provisional: Recent data provided by the Minnesota DNR -- including stream discharge, water levels, and precipitation -- are preliminary and have not received final approval. Most data relayed by satellite or other telemetry have received little or no review. Inaccuracies in the data may be present because of instrument malfunctions or physical changes at the measurement site.
During winter months, ice forms on the river and can significantly influence the stage record (water levels). The change in stream stage conditions due to ice affects the accuracy of the computed discharges using an ice free stage-discharge relationship. Modification to the stage-discharge relationship must be manually applied to account for these winter conditions, therefore effects of ice on the stage-discharge relationship are not reflected in the real-time computations. Subsequent review may result in significant revisions to the data. Data users are cautioned to consider carefully the provisional nature of the information before using it for decisions that concern personal or public safety or the conduct of business that involves substantial monetary or operational consequences.
