The purpose of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ official social media accounts is to provide information about the DNR and the programs, services, and products we provide. Our social media accounts are governed by the general rules of respectful civil discourse. The DNR social media team monitors official DNR accounts but is not responsible for content generated by users. The DNR requires users who choose to communicate on the DNR’s official social media accounts to adhere to the community terms of use.

Limited Public Forum
The DNR’s official social media accounts are limited public forums. Posts on an official social media account must be on topic. Posts that are off topic will be hidden or removed by the DNR.The DNR does not allow content that:
- Is off-topic or irrelevant to the original content published
- Is known to be false, misleading or fraudulent
- Is profane, obscene, sexually explicit, defamatory, libelous, threatening, abusive, harassing or, incites or promotes violence or illegal activity
- Promotes, endorses or opposes campaign activities for elected office
- Communicates personally identifiable information of any person, including but not limited to home address, home or cell phone number, or personal email address
- Contains information that could reasonably compromise individual or public safety
- Promotes, fosters, or perpetuates harassment or discrimination on the basis of any legally protected class of persons under federal and state laws
- Solicits, promotes, or advertises a business or product, or proposes a commercial transaction
- Infringes on patents, copyrights, trade secrets or trademarks
