East Range Multi-Use Trail

Thirty-six miles of multi-use trail provide access to Hoyt Lakes, Aurora, Giants Ridge, Biwabik, and Gilbert on a mix of routes, trails, and old mining roads. The trail climbs steeply to several breathtaking overlooks including a great view of Whitewater Lake as well as several mines and pits of the Iron Range. The trail crosses the Partridge and Embarrass River. This trail is provided by St. Louis County and maintained by the Ranger Snowmobile and ATV Club. Bikers, hikers, horseback riders allowed on trail. Off-Road Vehicles (i.e. Jeeps) not allowed.

Parking:
Parking is available at the west end of Biwabik at the warming house and ice rink area (North of Hwy 135).
Additional parking is available at the east end of the trail, just east of Hoyt Lakes, off Hwy 110, and at the west end of the trail in the main parking area of the Iron Range OHV State Recreation Area.
Additional parking is also available at Embarrass Mine Pit (also known as Lake Mine): From Biwabik, take Hwy 135 to Giants Ridge Rd, go north on Giants Ridge Rd to Lake Mine Rd, go east on Lake Mine Rd to the parking area just north of Embarrass Mine Pit.

Winter Use: ATVs are not allowed on groomed snowmobile trails; ATV trails are not groomed.
