A fairly-decent snow event (at least by the winter of 2024-25 standards) transformed a chunk of Minnesota’s landscape to a more winter-like appearance. A Clipper-like system moved east to west across Minnesota on January 11 and continuing into January 12, 2025.Many places from the Twin Cities on north saw at least 1-3 inches of snow with a wide area of 2-4 inch totals over the central and north. Southern Minnesota largely missed out though. The highest snowfall totals were from Park Rapids to Duluth where six to eight inches of snow fell. One of the higher snowfall totals was at the Duluth National Weather Service with 7.2 inches. The Twin Cities wound up with .8 (eight tenths) of an inch. The snowfall was more of a cosmetic addition, with many locations across the state as of January 13, 2025 12-15 inches short of seasonal snowfall, with Duluth 21 inches short of normal for the season.Posted January 14, 2025
