The Warm October of 2024 had a grand finale in store.

A cold front bisected Minnesota on Tuesday, October 29, separating summer-like air and southerly breezes and somewhat cooler air north of the front. The 50s and 60s seen in northern Minnesota were still above normal for the end of October.

It was a warm almost summer-like afternoon with crisp leaves blowing in a stiff south wind. Even in the evening at 11pm the temperature was 77 degrees. The record high of 80 degrees in the twin Cities, broke the old record of 78 degrees set 102 years ago in 1922. In fact this was the latest 80 degree temperature so late in the season for in the Twin Cities since 1950. 70s and some low 80s were common across southern Minnesota. St. Cloud saw a high of 71 degrees on the 29th, but the 77 degrees on the 28th broke the old record of 74 in 1950.
