Park Office

In Visitor Center

The visitor center/park office is 300 feet from the main park entrance. This is the second entrance off of Hwy 67.

Includes the park office, small Nature Store, restrooms, and a display room that contains some interpretive exhibits. The Center also has an audio visual room, tables and chairs. Building serves as a heated shelter in winter. Visitor Center is usually open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visitor Center/Campground

In addition to the exhibits in the Visitor Center, visit the Yellow Medicine Campground shower building to learn about the old village sites located here some 8,000-9,000 years ago.

Historic Site

Pick up the new brochure that interprets the story of the Upper Sioux Agency Historic Site. Brochures are available at the Visitor Center and at the site. Although the reconstructed duplex is not open for tours, you can wander the site and read the signs that interpret the history of this area.

Main Park Entrance Next to Kiosk

Local calls, credit card calls and emergency calls can be made from the phone located near the main entrance, and at the horse camp.

Fishing Kits: Rods & basic tackle boxes available for checkout from the park office.

Geocaching Demo Park: Bring your own GPS unit or use one of the park's hand-held units for free. As time permits, park staff will be available to give you helpful tips and geocaching information.
