Wheelchair Accessible

Begins at the Visitor Center and extends to the main falls area.


20 Miles

Trails will take visitor along the Gooseberry River and through evergreen and birch forests. Scenic views of waterfalls along trails.

Paved Bike

15 Miles

2.5 miles of the trail connects to the Gitchi Gami State Trail. Connection begins at the picnic flow parking lot.


Superior Hiking Trail

Cross Country Skiing

12 Miles

Trails are currently groomed only for classical cross-country skiing. There are some easy trails and .8k of difficult trail, but the majority are moderate.
A large loop for skate skiing will open later this winter.


2 Miles

The park's snowmobile trail connects to the C.J. Ramstad/North Shore State Trail that extends along the North Shore of the Lake Superior State Water Trail. Call (218) 834-1430 for more information.


Anywhere in the park

Snowshoers are welcome anywhere in the park - including off-trail - except on groomed ski or snowmobile trails.
The Gitchi Gummi and Fifth Falls trails are designated as intermediate and advanced trails.


Winter Hiking Trail

The half mile trail to the Upper Falls is cleared.
