Park Office

Office is located about 1/4 mile from park entrance.

Visitor Center

2 miles from the park entrance

The Thomas C. Savage Visitor Center has interpretive exhibits, meeting rooms, flush toilets and a gift shop. The building is open year-round and also serves as a warming house in winter. A sheltered area with picnic tables is adjacent to the center on one side of the building. An amphitheater is adjacent to the facility on the opposite end of the building. Wheelchair accessible.

Visitor Center

Exhibits focus on the history and resources of the area. Naturalist programs are offered year-round. Check at the park office and the visitor center for a schedule of programs.

Naturalist Programs

Visitor Center

Two naturalists are stationed at Fort Snelling State Park. Check out the naturalist programs and other activities scheduled at the park. Would you like a naturalist to speak to your group or class? Call 612-725-2724 to inquire about programs and availability.

Historic Site

Historic Fort Snelling/Sibley Historic Site

Visitors can leave the park and hike up to Historic Fort Snelling (additional entry fees apply). The Sibley Historic Site (additional entry fees apply) is a 3-mile drive from Fort Snelling State Park. Both sites are operated by the Minnesota Historical Society and are open seasonally to the general public.

Visitor Center

The Nature Store, located in the visitor center, carries State Park merchandise, books and gifts. Store hours vary; call park for availability 612-279-3550.

Canoes, kayaks, and snowshoes are available for rent at the park office. They are available on a first come, first served basis when the office is open.

Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel

Geocaching Demo Park

Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel:
The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel is owned by the State of Minnesota and administered by Fort Snelling State Park. The chapel is available for weddings and funerals. For rental information call 612-279-3555.

Bring your own GPS unit or use one of the park's hand-held units for free. As time permits, park staff will be available to give you helpful tips and geocaching information.

GPS units, birding kits, and fishing poles are available for free during your visit to the park. Check out fishing poles out from the park office and the GPS units and bird kits are available at the Visitor Center.
