Picnic Area

2 Picnic Areas

The upper picnic area is located adjacent to the historic site. This site includes a shelter and playground equipment, sandbox, horseshoes, volleyball, softball diamond and amphitheater. Pedestal and on-ground grills are available. The lower picnic area is located adjacent to the campgrounds along Fort Ridgely Creek. The upper picnic area has a small dumpster for garbage. The lower picnic area has no garbage receptacle and is carry-in/carry-out.

Picnic Shelter

Open Shelter and Enclosed Shelter

Located in the upper picnic area, this shelter was built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps and includes a fireplace, electricity, picnic tables, and running water. Flush toilets and wheelchair accessible vault toilets are available. It can accommodate up to 60 people and is handicapped accessible. Please reserve by calling the park.

Playground

Playground equipment includes swings, a climbing area, and a sandbox.

Golf Course

9-Hole Course

This is a 2,739 yard, par 35 course with narrow fairways, many mature trees, and grass greens. It is a walk-only course. No advance reservation for tee times, it is first-come, first-served only. Weekday Rates are $9 for 9 holes or $14 for all day. Weekend/Holiday Rates are $13 for 9 holes or $18 for all day. Punch cards and season passes are also available. Equipment rental (golf clubs and pull carts) is available at park office. Contact the park for equipment rental fees.

Other

Amphitheater

The park's amphitheater now has new paths and walkways that make the facility accessible to people of all abilities. This facility works great for weddings, weekly services and other events, and is available at no charge. Call the park to reserve. (507) 426-7840



Winter

Warming House

Chalet Building

The lower floor of the chalet building serves as the winter warming house and includes flush toilets which are handicapped accessible, electric outlets, picnic tables and fireplace. Wood for the fireplace is provided by the park. Facility is open year-round.

Sliding Hill

3 sliding areas

Two areas are restricted to plastic sled or inner tube use only. The third area is open to all types of sliding equipment.
