Where to go: Begin at the trailhead on the south east side of the parking area at the public water access.

What you'll see: The trail starts in a prairie dotted with sumac and cedars. As you travel on the trail you will enter a picturesque oak forest where mushrooms, woodland plants and wildlife abound. The trail ends in a tall grass prairie that becomes a beautiful brown and red in fall.

Also of interest: The entire recreation area is open to Archery Deer Hunting during the regular Archery Season. There is a geocache located within the Recreation Area. There is a fishing pier and Water Access facilities on Greenleaf Lake at the parking area.

Special Offer for Park Permits

Canít decide between a one-day or year-round park permit? The DNR has a special offer that can help. Start by purchasing a one-day permit for $5 and visit as many state parks as possible. After visiting the state parks, trade in the one-day permit by the end of that day and get $5 off the purchase of a year-round permit. Year-round permits, which cost $25, provide unlimited access to all 76 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas for a full year from the month of purchase.
