Where to go: Hike through the beautiful pine and hardwood stands of Tell Lake trail during fall color for views of maple, oak, basswood, birch and white pine. The historic Chase Point trail offers hikers beautiful lakescapes as they transcend down an esker left behind from the glaciers.
What you'll see: Tamarack bogs are at peak with golden needles. All deciduous leaves have fallen.
Also of interest: Fox and raccoon tracks have been seen in the snow along trails. Whitetail deer have been active in the morning and evening hours.Last updated: October 24, 2013
Canít decide between a one-day or year-round park permit? The DNR has a special offer that can help. Start by purchasing a one-day permit for $5 and visit as many state parks as possible. After visiting the state parks, trade in the one-day permit by the end of that day and get $5 off the purchase of a year-round permit. Year-round permits, which cost $25, provide unlimited access to all 76 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas for a full year from the month of purchase.
