Norris Lake

Location:

Norris Lake lies west of St. Francis. Travel south from St. Francis on highway 47 one mile, then turn west on Norris Lake Road N.W. (County Road 24). 

Species Present:

Northern Pike average abundance, smaller than average size.
Largemouth Bass lower than average abundance, smaller than average size.
Bluegill: above average abundance, average size.
Crappie: average abundance, average size.
Bullhead species: average abundance, larger than average size.
Yellow Perch: low abundance, small average size.

 

Boat Access:

There is no dedicated public access site on this lake. Anglers launch boats at two locations; off the shoulder of Norris Lake Rd. N.W. and at the eastern end of the lake. Both sites are undeveloped and may not be suitable for larger boats. The eastern access is owned by Bar-None Boys Ranch, which occupies the south shore of the lake. 

Shore Fishing:

Anglers fish along the north shore of the lake off the shoulder of Norris Lake Rd. N.W. Fishing is limited by wooded shoreline and aquatic vegetation. 

Management Plans:

  1. None at this time. 

Comments:

This lake suffers occasional winterkills. Fish populations may vary greatly from latest assessment data depending on frequency and extent of winterkill events.
